Some pool builders will design your pool, too, but most do not have the time nor can they make the effort to really understand your needs, or develop an overall master plan. Let us design you pool, and let the builder concentrate on building the pool! |

Think out of the box. A pool is a big reservoir of clean water. Pumps and pipes can make it do anything and travel anywhere. Let the water still delight you when you're not swimming in it.There are many books and monthly magazines on pool design. Go take a look. |

Variable-speed pumps are the new thing. The same pump can send a trickle over your spillway and pump a hundred gallons of water a minute through your spa jets and everything in between. They are very quiet AND highly energy efficient, saving thousands of dollars in operating costs over the life of the pool. In all but the simplest pools, we recommend using one, if not several, variable speed pumps to maximize your pool's performance and your energy savings. |

If you've decided to build a pool, you should consider adding a therapeutic spa alongside it. The incremental cost of adding a spa at the time your pool is built is money well spent, in our opinion. |

Vanishing Edge pools are built so that a portion of the pool's edge, usually facing away from the main view, is cut away, allowing the water in the pool to constantly flow over the edge and down to a hidden trough or basin were it is captured and re-circulated. The effect is now well-known: from a vantage point across the pool, the edge of the water terminates in a line, often with a view of the ocean beyond. When the light is right, it can appear that the pool continues to infinity. |

Your pool can be controlled with hard-wired keypads in the house, iphones, ipads, and your laptop. A pool and spa do their thing through a careful choreography of valves, hydraulics, pump speeds, and electrical signals. Integrated remote control is the only way to choreograph all those variables easily. |

Water absorbs the red spectrum of visible light and reflects the blue spectrum, making the pool look blue. The more water there is in the pool (deeper,) the bluer the pool looks. A typical pool is pure white, making the blue water a light blue. Darken the finish, and you'll deepen the "blueness" of the water. The common finish is a white plaster or marcite finish. It's reasonably smooth and the pool is a light blue. Upgrading that finish includes the addition of colored, man-made aggregates to toughen the surface and add interest. They can feel kind of rough. |

Fiberoptics allow light into the water in any way imaginable, from linear rope light effects to little fiber optic points of light on the pool floor. The traditional pool light is still a solid performer, but now multi-colored LED lights with programming capabilities greatly enhance the lighting choices while reducing operating costs. |

Imagine a pool that has its water all the way up to the very edge, then the water begins to flow out of the pool and across the surrounding deck. The water travels about a foot, then disappears in a thin slot cut into the decking that surrounds the pool. From a distance, the water looks like a sheet of glass. At night, it can be dramatic as it reflects its surroundings. These pools are the equivalent of a Rolls Royce in that their beauty is borne in their exquisite precision. A pool like this requires a builder of exceptional skill. |

A pool needs to be vacuumed once a week, and the sides and bottom brushed as often. But nothing is more important than maintaining proper pool chemistry. Proper chlorination and sanitizing along with proper pH is critically important to keeping the rest of the pool in check. A person should test pool water samples every few days, and adjust when necessary. A pool shouldn't require more than 2 hours a week to maintain, if you are diligent about keeping the water balanced. |

When planning your pool, we think a lot about the equipment and where to put it. Pool equipment needs some substantial real estate, and there are restrictions on where it can be placed on your property, depending in which jurisdiction you live. In general, the equipment should never be seen, nor heard, and it requires a design solution as much as the pool does. |

If you are serious about building a pool that is unique and beautiful like the ones you've seen on our website, we'd love to design your pool for you. Think about adding a spa to extend the variety of activities and water feature potential.Think about moving, spraying water and using the pool as a resource for other water-related effects. Look at the pool books. They will challenge you to re-think your common perceptions of what a pool is and what it can do. Back to Top. |
